| Abstract | This report of the UNISIST II conference presents the general proceedings of the conference and makes recommendations on the future activities at national, regional, and international levels in the field of scientific and technical information. The opening section reports the welcoming addresses to the delegates and the administrative business of the conference. During the working sessions the conference considered (1) a review of achievements since the UNISIST governmental conference of 1971; (2) the flow of scientific and technological information and its role in development; and (3) strategies for future action at the national, regional, and international levels. The conference prepared four general recommendations addressed to the upcoming United Nations Conference on Science and Technology for Development (with 11 specific recommendations); to member states (with 11 specific recommendations); to Unesco (with 24 specific recommendations); and finally to the Director General of UNESCO. Separate annexes present the conference agenda, addresses delivered during the conference, a listing of conference connected documents, and a list of participants alphabetized by name of country.
