| Abstract | This paper describes an alternative evening high school program for dropouts located in Salt Lake City (Utah). The purpose of the study was to arrive at a descriptive analysis and interpretation of what went on in the alternative school, Valley High School. It describes and analyzes such features as the drop-in program, learning center activities on each day of the week, and the use of structured learning areas. The paper concludes that this alternative high school needs to become accepted by the traditional school community. The establishment of a community advisory council, it says, would help the public see that Valley is attempting to help students function better in traditional society even though it uses nontraditional approaches.
