| Abstract | Site visits were conducted at six state departments of vocational education (Texas, Illinois, Utah, South Carolina, Michigan, and Indiana) to assess the level of articulation with related educational dissemination agencies. These states represented a variety of settings which illustrated the effects of geography, population size, levels of past and present educational dissemination activity, awareness and usefulness of an approved state plan, and physical proximity of staff members on the levels of articulation. It was observed that articulation is greatly enhanced when the amount of informal communication between staff members is high. Formal interagency agreements are not a guarantee of cooperation, although periodic communication and meetings are essential to maintain awareness. Generally there is a lack of funds to adequately use existing resources. Streamlining of organizational personnel structuring would greatly facilitate present levels of articulation. The overall level of articulation in these states is not high, but, it was noted that there is great willingness to participate and increase the amount of articulation.
