Abstract | This eleventh of fifteen sets of Adult Competency Education (ACE) Competency Based Job Descriptions in the ACE kit contains job descriptions for Typist I, Grocery Checker, File Clerk, Receptionist; Bank Teller; and Clerk, General Office. Each begins with a fact sheet that includes this information: occupational title, D.O.T. code, ACE number, career ladder, D.O.T. general educational developmental level, site(s) at which job can be observed, job requirements, and job description (D.O.T.). The following pages list twenty to forty competencies (specific math and communicative activities) needed to function successfully in the occupation. (An office core job description containing competencies common to the office occupations included here is in CE 016 831.) Each competency is presented as (1) exact skill found to have been essential to the job during an on-site employee interview, (2) measurable instructional objective defining the skill (performance criterion, not job related), (3) specific task with which to test a student's ability at the skill (the job-related performance criterion). (Instructional objectives match those in the ACE Taxonomy as indicated by a code identifying unit, item, and specific objective.) Skills that are prerequisite to the competencies are noted. (Additional job descriptions, kit manuals, and the project final report are also available in ERIC--see Note.) (YLB) |
