Abstract | This monograph suggests curricular revisions in teacher education programs which will prepare teachers to work more effectively with handicapped students and their nonhandicapped peers. Articles on the following topics are presented: 1) the challenge of Public Law 94-142 to teacher education; 2) a liberal arts response to the concept of a common body of practice; 3) accepting the challenge of change in teacher education; 4) the challenge of Public Law 94-142 to the structure of schooling; 5) mainstreaming and teacher education; 6) toward an enlargement of general principles in teacher education; 7) possible effects of Public Law 94-142 on the future of teacher education; and, 8) expanding the values of Public Law 94-142 to nonhandicapped children.
