Abstract	The Unesco report, one in a series, examines education in Thailand. It studies the general framework of information systems within the Ministry of Education, assesses the availability and use of information for decision making in planning and curriculum development and identifies the problems concerning the information system. There are four chapters. In Chapter One the information system within the Ministry of Education is analyzed in terms of internal and external sources of information, carriers of information, information flows, methods of structuring of information, and impact of information. With reference to sources of information, external information does not have much impact on grass roots decision making. Parents' groups and the mass media have not yet developed too keen an interest in educational matters. A system which collects and organizes foreign information is needed. In Chapter Two, an analysis of the process of educational development planning for the period 1977-81 illustrates the decision-making structure involving different agencies concerned with formal and non-formal education. In the interaction process among key decision makers, politics did play a significant role in planning. In Chapter Three, an analysis of the curriculum development process illustrates participatory decision making in pedagogic matters, which involved many committees and working groups.
