Abstract | Reports from 20 state supervisors of foreign languages were compiled. Each report describes a state's elementary-level and secondary-level foreign language programs and activities as of November 1979. Topics covered include basic foreign language programs, trends in foreign language enrollment, teacher training, work with other divisions within the state department of education or other outside agencies, innovative foreign language programs or projects, and other major activities. The states represented are Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. A directory of the members of the National Council of State Supervisors of Foreign Languages is appended. (JB) |
