AbstractThe setting of priorities among educational objectives is just as critical, and at least as difficult, as the selection of objectives. Information that is commonly used to make decisions about priorities involves: the needs of persons who will benefit from the school program; the resources available; and the knowledge of what payoffs are likely for various teaching strategies and resource allocations. The Priorities Planning Sheet, developed by the Instructional Objectives Exchange, is useful to curriculum planners for evaluating their objectives priorities. The sheet contains five categories to be completed: (1) behavioral objective; (2) need (high, low, etc.)--as seen by teacher, learner, and community; (3) resource allocation or instructional time required; (4) payoff probability--high, low, etc., and (5) special conditions--such as when to terminate the instruction, special materials or teachers required, or relevant student characteristics. The final blank is provided for recording the decision regarding planning priority--high, middle, or low. (Sample worksheets have been filled out and are included). (GDC)
