Abstract | A set of minimum physical education skill objectives, basic motor performances all elementary and secondary school children should be capable of demonstrating are presented in the form of specific drill instructions. Divided into grade levels for purposes of assessment, the exercises are intended to be ungraded activities. The rationale for this attitude is that physical education students are participants in a constant continuum of growth, rather than bound into a rigid skill-level classification. The objectives are described at two levels of performance, the terminal level (representing the skill to be acquired) and the enabling level (describing the behavior that effectively guides the learner along the skill continuum). The skills are also adaptable to physical education programs serving handicapped children. (LH) |
