Abstract | Cooperative research was used in revising and strengthening core courses in a teacher education program. Feedback was used to provide suggestions for more appropriate and relevant knowledge to be presented at the preservice level. In the course of initial research first-year teachers were asked to help identify areas in their teacher education program common core courses which they believed needed improvement. From this research, a list was designed and a validating survey questionnaire sent to public school teachers and administrators and to college teachers and administrators. Results were prioritized and recommendations presented to the State Department of Education and schools of education. Final recommendations on the proposed revised core courses are contained in this report. (JD) |
