AbstractPart of a series of instructional packages for use in college level economics courses, this document contains nine lecture outlines on macroeconomics. The first section deals with basic macroeconomic concepts in terms of underlying microeconomic behavior, national income and product accounting, nominal and real GNP, actual and potential GNP, and economic policy. Section II presents a simple model of income and expenditure determination. Section III focuses on aggregate demand relative to the GNP, unemployment, and inflation. Section IV discusses fiscal policy, the balanced budget multiplier, the choice of the size of the budget deficit or surplus, and endogenous taxes. Section V covers investment expenditure in the American economy, investment expenditure and the rate of interest, and other determinants of investment expenditure. Sections VI and VII deal with money and interest--in particular, saving and wealth, money and financial intermediaries, the demand for money, general equilibrium of goods and financial markets, and monetary policy. Section VIII discusses aggregate supply in terms of the labor market and the Phillips Curve. The final section deals with international economics in terms of balance of payments, foreign trade, and international monetary arrangements.
