Abstract | A project was conducted to develop energy instructional units which would fit into each year of a three-year farm business management curriculum. Four curriculum units which focus on fertilizer management in crop production were developed. The first unit was designed to develop farmers' awareness of energy as a vital resource to their businesses and the establishment of farm and family goals. The second unit was designed to describe the amount of energy needed to produce fertilizer for the farming operation. The third and fourth units were designed to describe energy consumption and returns from the various cropping programs and methods of planning a cropping program which encourages energy conservation. (A copy of the four units are contained in the appendices. Each unit contains student objectives, and suggested teaching strategies.) (JH) |
