Abstract | The FFHC/AD (Freedom From Hunger Campaign/Action for Development) is the Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) link with peoples' organizations in the world's poor and rich countries. During its 18 years of activities, FFHC/AD has channelled additional funds collected by private financing agencies in the industrialized countries to rural development projects in about 100 developing countries. This catalogue describes 64 reports on projects organized or supported in varying degrees by FFHC/AD during the last five years. Each title includes a brief summary identifying a characteristic feature or an unusual detail or a set of problems of the project. The projects are classified by region and by country, e.g., Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Near East, Algeria, Cameroon, Gambia, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Madagascar, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama, Iran, Iraq, and Sudan. An index lists the reports according to the project's subject areas, i.e., agrarian reform, agricultural credit, artisanal fisheries, commercial crops, cultures and customs, development agents, education and development, governmental structures for development, indigenous rural technology, land management, land structures, peasant life, marketing, neo-traditional structures, rural communication, rural community development, rural crafts and industries, rural hygiene, and theory of rural development. Information for obtaining the various reports is included. (NQ) |
