AbstractTo help classroom teachers in grades K-9 construct mathematics tests, fifteen general objectives, corresponding sub-objectives, sample test items, and answers are presented. In general, sub-objectives are arranged in increasing order of difficulty. The objectives were written to comprehensively cover three categories. The first, graphs, covers the interpretation and construction of different types of graphs; the correspondence between Cartesian coordinate systems and ordered pairs; and the graphical properties of linear and quadratic equations. The objectives are concerned with graphical interpretations of relations, as opposed to manipulations. The second category, ratios, focuses on practical business problems involving tax rates and insurance premiums. Statistics and probability, the third category, covers ordering data, frequency distributions, histograms and polygons, arithmetic mean, mode, median, and percentile rank. Probability concepts include sample space, favorable outcomes, empirical probability, probability ratio, per cent probability, mathematical expectation, computing factorials, permutations, combinations, Pascal's triangle, and combined probabilities of independent and interdependent events. (A glossary is appended.) (Author/CP)
