| Abstract | This report describes the development of a computer based system designed to train electronic troubleshooting procedures. The ACTS uses artificial intelligence techniques to develop models of student and expert troubleshooting behavior as they solve a series of troubleshooting problems on the system. Comparisons of the student and expert models provide the basis for the instructional feedback given to the student. The ACTS also simulates the circuit on which the student is being trained and the process of taking test measurements, so that no actual equipment is required. The rationale behind the ACTS effort, data related to ACTS effectiveness, and future research directions are also discussed. (Author) |
