| Abstract | Simple black and white illustrations portray one occupation for each of 15 career clusters. Directed toward the Indian student and showing Indians at work in the occupations depicted, the illustrations are intended to create an awareness, understanding, and motivation for Indian students to become involved in work, both on and off the reservation. The 15 career clusters are health, personal service, manufacturing, environment, agri-business and natural resources, consumer and homemaking, marketing and distribution, construction, business and office occupations, hospitality and recreation, marine science, fine arts and humanities, public services, communications and media, and transportation. Their illustrated occupations are ambulance attendant, beauty operator, blacksmith, botanist, cattle rancher, clothes designer, grocery checker, heavy equipment operator, hospital administrator, hunting and fishing guide, oceanographer, photographer, police officer, sign painter, and truck driver. All of the illustrations, which may be colored by the student, should serve as a springboard to help the students in understanding what is the career, what training is required, the qualifications, the responsibilities, the earning potential, how it helps others, and what subjects can be studied in school to prepare for that career.
