Abstract	The document reports on a 3-year research project to measure the acquisition and generalization of teaching and child management behaviors by parents of preschool handicapped chiloren enrolled in the Portage Project. Initial chapters describe treatments (which utilize the parent as the child's primary teacher in a home-based program) and first, second, and third year activities. In a final chapter it is noted that the changes in response recorded across behaviors at the point of intervention for each of six different parents served by six different home teachers argues strongly for the reliability and generality of effect of the parent training program. Subsequent chapters address the methodology and results of the multiple baseline study, reliability study, task probe study, and study of change in knowledge and attitudes. Appended materials include a copy of the Portage Project parental behavior inventory, sample forms, behavior code definitions, information on coding procedures, an evaluation form on teaching young children, and a parent attitude checklist.
