AbstractThis publication is primarily intended as a resource document for vocational educators and special education personnel charged with the responsibility of identifying and selecting those mentally handicapped students (EMRs) in their school district and who are "best suited" for mainstreaming into regular vocational programs. In part 1, a general review of components of eleven major work samples is presented in alphabetical order. In addition, a brief work sample manual is presented which offers forty-three individual work samples categorized under nine occupational areas. Part 2, section 1, contains fourteen annotated references. Each reference is related directly to vocational education methodologies used with mentally handicapped students and slow learners. Part 2, section 2, contains thirteen annotated references which are related in a more general nature to the education of mentally handicapped students and slow learners. In part 2, section 3, approximately 120 annotated references obtained through ERIC searches are presented. All references are related to mentally handicapped students and slow learners in vocational programs. Part 3 concerns the acquisition of information. This section is designed to help those persons with limited research skills. (CSS)
