AbstractThese three reports analyze characteristics of Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College students in fall l977. The first report compares average credit hours taken by students in 1977 against 1975 and 1976 figures, and breaks down data for each of several college campuses in terms of full- and part-time registration in academic, technical, vocational and summer programs. Average credit hours taken by full- and part-time academic students decreased during the years being compared. Full-time technical student average hours remained almost the same. Average hours for part-time technical students increased from 1976 to 1977, but not to the 1975 level. Vocational full-time students have consistently been required to take 18 credit hours. The second report analyzes students' sex distribution and compares this data with data for four Mississippi counties. Females, averaging 48.7% of the counties' population, comprised 38.1% of the student population in 1973, 40.6% in 1974, 42.6% in 1975, and 49% in 1977. The third report presents age information for fall 1973, 1974, 1975, and 1977 students by various campuses and programs. Average age varied by program: the average age for academic students was 20, for technical students was 23, and for vocational students was between 29 and 30. Data are presented primarily in tables.
