| Abstract | The Academic Game, considered a valuable exercise for academics and administrators in investigating some of the problems of decision-making and possible ways of facilitating organizational decisions, is described. The major objective of the game is to achieve on agreed promotion policy. The roles and organization structure are designed to ensure that the achievement of the major objectives is obstructed by structural impediments and conflicting interests. Observers can be assigned to study the players' behavior in the simulation as it develops, and their views are considered important in the debriefing discussion that follows the completion of the simulations.
