| Abstract | Expansion in the South for providing professional education in medicine, veterinary medicine, and law was undertaken to extend access to desirable professionals to young people and to increase the supply of needed professionals in underserved areas. How these objectives have been met is analyzed from an economist's perspective by relating supply and demand of professional manpower. To evaluate supply--and-demand components from the three fields, data are presented primarily for the past decade. (SPG) |
