Abstract | Two views on current international communication are presented--that of an American academician, and that of an Indian journalist. John Lent traces the rise of development journalism and development communication from the point of view of those who believe that individual freedom of expression should be treated as an inviolable right. Narinder Aggarwala, sympathetic to the collectivist orientation of many Third World states, proposes a path of accommodation and compromise. Also in this issue is an article discussing the Indian teacher education program developed for the Satellite Instructional Television Experiment (SITE). (Author/STS) |
