Abstract | The study was designed to gain information about the demand for and supply of new business Ph.D's and D.B.A.'s in the southern states. Some of the topics addressed are: (1) the number of new doctoral faculty needed, by specialization over each of the next four years; (2) the types of schools where hiring needs are expected to exist, by size of business enrollments, professional accreditation status, and type of control; (3) the sources for recruitment of new doctoral faculty; (4) recruiting and hiring practices of southern schools, including sources of potential faculty and timing of contract offers; (5) the expected output of new business doctorates, by specialization over each of the next four years; (6) regional placement of new doctorates from the southern states over the last three years; and (7) doctoral demand and supply from a national perspective, including a review of recent reports.
