Abstract | The objectives of this study were to identify significant literature relating to the study and evaluation of business management efficiency and economy in local school districts (including cost control of business management expenditures) and to review such literature to identify and define applicable and generally accepted indices for measuring the efficiency and economy of business management practices. The report is organized into four sections that examine general measures related to all functions of the school district business office, discuss specific measures related to nine particular functions of the business office, describe the study's findings and recommendations, and present an extensive bibliography of publications on which the study was based.
