Abstract | Rapid and radical changes taking place in the scientific, technological, educational, and societal context are affecting the education and training of engineers. To ensure that engineers keep pace with change, reappraisal and revision of the curricula is considered necessary. Unesco established and sponsored the International Working Group on Engineering Curriculum Design with the aim of initiating and facilitating investigation and communication into the curriculum design process. This paper identifies factors which influence the curriculum design process in engineering education. A methodology of engineering curriculum design is discussed and its main stages are described. Some conclusions and recommendations for further investigation in engineering curriculum design are also made. (Author/MA) |
