AbstractDeveloped for vocational educators as a self-study guide or as a basis for inservice workshops, this source book presents information on sex fair education. Each of the six sections contains fact sheets and references, and some contain checklists, guidelines or rating sheets, and highlighted questions and activities which may be used for individual or group activities. Sections are titled as follows: (1) Why Expanded Roles Are Needed (negative effects of stereotyping, the changing labor force, and the changing family); (2) Vocational Education's Challenge (role expectations in relation to title IX and title II legislation); (3) How Stereotyping Affects Teachers and Students; (4) How Vocational Education Materials Can Influence Role Expectations (sexism in language, textbooks, audiovisual materials, vocational information, and tests); (5) Teaching for Expanded Roles (selected classroom activities); and (6) Additional Resources (books, articles, audio-visual materials, and a list of organizations providing information about sex bias).
