AbstractA three-year (1974-77) K-14 Career Based Curriculum (CBC) project was conducted in Union County, North Carolina, to implement career education concepts into four elementary schools, two middle schools, and four senior high schools. During the third year of the project, a career center serving the secondary schools and the community was opened. The third-party final evaluation report (included in this document) for the third year focused on effectiveness of the planned career education delivery system and the transportability of the CBC model to other school administrative units or local education agencies. Also student achievement on all grade levels was evaluated, and assessments were made of project activities and attitudes of students, teachers, parents, and community leaders toward the project. The CBC model was found to be transportable to other administrative units by more than half the units, with only minor changes needed. This document includes a description of the project, various project materials and forms, and analyses of student test data, survey results, teacher reports, parent and community leaders' responses, and on-site process evaluation.
