AbstractThe project was designed to develop a data interface system which would (1) improve the quality of vocational data, (2) provide vocational data in a more timely manner, (3) provide meaningful analyses of data (particularly in the worker demand-supply area), and (4) provide the capability of interacting different data bases. Procedures were developed for collecting supply data from public vocational schools, institutions of higher learning, apprenticeship training, migration, government organizations, and private schools. A committee of subject area specialists developed an interface of supply and demand data. A data-based management system was selected and tested for interactive data interface. Major results included (1) development of the ability to interact data bases using standardized codes and a commercial data based management system which provides both batch and interactive access to most vocational data bases; (2) state and local administrators approval and use of the system from both data provider and data user standpoints; and (3) a management consulting group's agreement that the system meets most administrative data needs. Recommendations included that some bottom line type of analysis such as linear programming or simulation be developed to achieve even better usage of Colorado's vocational data bases. (BL)
