AbstractIn 1976, a transfer and employment follow-up survey was conducted of 696 Associate of Arts and certificate students who had graduated between December 1974 and August 1975 from Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC). Responses, which were received from 70% of the graduates, indicated that (1) 93% would recommend HACC; (2) 72% were currently employed--60% full-time and 12% part-time; (3) only 6.7% were seeking employment; (4) full-time workers averaged $10,157 yearly salary; (5) 72.6% of those working were employed in their areas of study at HACC; (6) graduates employed in fields directly related to their HACC curricula indicated that HACC had given them good technical skills, but could have given them better job and career knowledge; (7) 58.8% of the graduates transferred to another institution; (8) of those who transferred, 73.8% were still enrolled, 11.6% had graduated, and 14% had dropped out; (9) 41.5% of the transfer students had applied for financial aid, with 33.8% receiving it; (10) 24.2% of the transfer students had lost some credits, but 36% of those losing credits lost less than 3; and (11) most transfer students indicated that their preparation for transfer was good. All supporting data, divided into curricular areas, are appended. (RT)
