Abstract | The issue contains two special reports on education in Iran and Nepal, six reviews of recent publications and studies, and brief descriptions of 12 Asian educational documents. The first special report explores the reasons for establishing regional educational councils in Iran, their relationship to the Ministry of Education, and how their budget cycle operates. The second report describes objectives of Nepal's fifth economic plan from 1975 to 1980. Reviews of recent publications present information about international trends in adult education; plans for educational reform in Sri Lanka; a national study service in Indonesia which encourages students of higher education to participate in rural development activities; a state-of-the-art report on education and culture in Indonesia; a historical analysis of educational policies during British rule in Ceylon from 1796 to 1948; and a review of a directory of voluntary adult education organizations in India. Educational documents which are briefly described cover topics such as strategies for rural development in Asia, manpower and development in Southwest Asia, and proceedings of the International Conference on the Survival of Mankind held in Manila during 1976.
