Abstract | The planning model was designed to enable independent colleges to come to grips with both the concerns and the expectations of affirmative action. It is divided into three parts: (1) a broad statement about the procedures and expectations of equal employment opportunity, presented from the perspective of a hypothetical small independent college; (2) charts, instructions, and worksheets for institutional planning; and (3) appendixes containing references and statistical sources, federal regulations on nondiscrimination, a Federal Government memorandum to college and university presidents, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission guidelines on preemployment inquiries, and comments on the planning model from regional offices of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare.
