Abstract | The Training Institute for Desegregated Education (TIDE), initiated as a response to requests for services from the Detroit public schools, has as its main purpose the reduction and elimination of problems related to discrimination by race and sex and the desegregation of Detroit schools. This purpose is to be accomplished through inservice training for educational personnel in the Detroit schools. The project, described in this speech, is a joint effort of Wayne State University and the Detroit school district. The emphasis is on team effort to improve the total school program. Evaluation of part of this project indicates that respondents believe group process and community involvement are key elements to building effective teams. (Author) |
