Abstract | Lessons presented in this manual, developed as part of the vocational strategies project, are designed to provide driver education for mildly handicapped special needs students placed in jobs that require a driver's license. The guide is intended for use in conjunction with a vocational program in automotive mechanics, or integrated into a resource room reading curriculum. Vocabulary words following each section appear in the Massachusetts State drivers' manual and are used on the exam. Material in the manual is presented thematically. Topics covered in the manual include an introduction to driving practice, right of way, passing, turning, speed, signs and a game, stopping, parking, accidents, drinking and driving, other rules, and the road test.
