| Abstract | This report arrives at the composite estimate of Federal funding of education knowledge production and utilization (KPU) for FY 1975 by examining and comparing four data bases with respect to four definitional issues and then proposing a definition of the boundaries of the domain of interest to NIE and the Subcommittee on Research, Development, Dissemination, and Evaluation. Highlights of the report include: (1) Federal education KPU obligations are estimated to be $513 million in FY 1975; (2) education KPU activity includes research, development, demonstration, dissemination, and evaluation; (3) no one data base adequately covers all education KPU activity in all Federal agencies; and (4) according to the composite estimate based on four data bases, HEW obligated 82,4% of the total.
