Abstract | This package (one of a series developed for use at the high school level) helps the student examine the significance of women and their relation to the world of work through the use of seven enabling objectives and related learning experiences. The seven objectives are: (1) To discover cultural elements which have contributed to the continuance of the traditional view of women; (2) to investigate the opinions that contemporary women hold of themselves and their place in the world of work; (3) to read and discuss relevant literature dealing with women, their traditional roles, and their palce in the world of work; (4) to participate in and observe situations in which women are found in nontraditional roles; (5) to cite examples of change within the modern work society which have affected the traditional division of labor by sex; (6) to identify life patterns which might be followed by a woman and discuss the significance of each in regard to her personal development and family life; and (7) to gather information concerning vocational opportunities for women in various areas of work. This guide may be implemented through the traditional subject areas or taught by teachers and/or counselors as self-contained minicourses or group guidance units. Activities related to the enabling objectives are appended. (TA) |
