Abstract | This curriculum guide outlines 10 inservice training courses for group day care and nursery school personnel. Each course outline presents a list of learning experiences and related resources from which the instructor can choose to meet the needs of his/her students. Materials are designed to meet the Minnesota Department of Public Welfare requirements. The courses are: Art (objectives of art in the preschool, environment conducive to creativity, different art media to be explored, exchange of art project ideas); Child Care Administration I (procedures for starting a center, including money budgeting, board of directors, personnel management, business management techniques, business forms); Child Care Administration II (interviewing and selecting child care workers, designing the curriculum for each child, health and safety in the center); Developing Intellectual Abilities (activities in science, pre-math, cooking, art, language, music, literature, and self-concept explored as a means of cognitive development); Play, Dramatic Play, and Play Equipment; Positive Guidance and Behavior Control (relates the emotional development of preschoolers to feelings of adequacy, security, aggressiveness, and techniques for behavior control); Principles of Child Development (Birth to 2 Years); Principles of Child Development (Ages 2-5); Science (objectives, concepts, methods); Teaching for the Child (developing self concept in children, handling routine situations, observing children, working with other agencies).
