Abstract | Prepared for local directors of vocational education, the guide may also serve as a reference for school board members, school administrators, teachers, and the vocational education advisory committee members. It presents the relationship between the local committee and the State and National Advisory Council on Vocational Education and relates this structure to the need for developing local committees in Virginia. Chapters provide information on concepts, functions, and organizational structure; procedures in establishing the committee; and recommendations for self-evaluation and continued involvement. Appendixes comprise about half the document (37 pages) and contain supportive information on the role of the State Division of Vocational Education and the purpose and function of advisory committees; samples of operational guidelines, forms, by-laws, and self-evaluation criteria; a glossary; and bibliography.
