AbstractObjectives of the project were: (1) to develop statewide articulated competency-based curricula in selected vocational education programs, (2) to develop a plan for coordinating instruction between high schools, vocational schools, and colleges, (3) to determine standards for levels of competencies of selected curricula, (4) to provide instructors with guidelines indicating achievement levels, and (5) to identify problem areas in curriculum models for special needs students. Following a literature review, collection of data from schools and employers, and assessment of guides in current use, articulation advisory committees were formed. Although interest was high in the group, signed articulation agreements were not achieved. Curriculum guides were developed and field tested for five vocational areas: air conditioning/refrigeration, drafting occupations, electronics, nursing occupations, and office occupations. Evaluation results are shown for each of the three institutional levels, and 80% of the 153 instructors said that they would use the guides. Revised guides were disseminated in the State. Also reported are the results of an assessment of programs for special needs students in vocational schools. A bibliography is included in the document. Appendixes contain a task inventory for nurse assistant, field test and special needs assessment questionnaires, and a list of special needs instructional materials. (RG)
