Abstract	Since February 1974, the Freedom House Institute on Schools and Education has been attempting to chip away at the walls that divide people from their educational opportunities, by providing the information which they must have in order to deal effectively with the Boston Public School System and related educational resources. This brochure is an effort to provide parents, students, and the entire community with some reliable answers to the questions that are too often left unanswered, as well as some well research observations of the first four months of desegregation. This question and answer booklet gives factual information about the first four months of school desegregation in Boston and analyzes those months from the point of view of Boston's black community. Subjects covered in this booklet include: enrollment, attendance, and volumtary transfer; teachers, where the trouble was--and where is wasn't; suspensions, police; desegregation support efforts in the black community; the federal role; politics and desegregation; biracial councils; and looking ahead to Phase II.
