AbstractThough not comprehensive in scope, the guide presents credit recommendations and descriptions of over 600 courses sponsored by 38 government, industry, business, and labor union noncollegiate organizations, providing information for educational officials to consider when granting credit to students for learning acquired in noncollegiate programs. Courses must present college-level material, with extended classroom-based courses containing at least 30 hours of instruction and intensive courses being at least 35 hours in duration. All courses must provide an appropriate method for evaluating student performance, and correspondence and independent study courses must provide a supervised final examination. Courses are organized and indexed alphabetically under their sponsoring organizations. The organizations are described and each course exhibit provides information on the title, course number, location, length, dates, objective, instruction, and credit recommendation. The recommendation involves: (1) categories of credit, including vocational certificate, lower division baccalaureate/associate degree, upper division baccalaureate, graduate degree; (2) semester hours; (3) subject area(s); and, (4) date of review. Information regarding project background, the review process, questions and answers for students, questions and answers for administrators and faculty, and use of the guide is provided. Appended material includes a list of evaluators and project policies and procedures. (LH)
