Abstract | The efforts of the Chicago Public Library during the years 1976-80 will focus on: (1) evaluating, improving, and adjusting existing programs and developing new programs; (2) cooperating with other agencies and organizations in the community; (3) improving the functioning of the library as a research and reference center for the state; and (4) improving the fiscal position of the library system. The objectives of the five-year plan include developing a program of library services aimed at meeting the needs of every Chicagoan; providing adequate library materials, both print and nonprint; developing an adequate staff; improving communications within the library system; providing functional, safe, and attractive facilities; increasing public awareness of library services; modernizing the library's internal fiscal procedures; and increasing the library system's financial resources. A bibliography of over 100 items is included. (Author/PF) |
