Abstract | Covering the time period of July 1974 to June 1975, the interim report describes the activities of a project designed to provide career education to the adult population of a low income rural area in north-central Wisconsin. Special emphasis was focused on out-of-school persons in need of entry jobs or those needing job upgrading or retraining. Programs incorporating the concepts of self-awareness, career awareness, career development, and career exploration were developed. Activities were designed to provide career education information to the parents of high school age youth in the area. This included classes, small group sessions, counseling, career material displays, tours, and informational meetings. In addition, the materials resource center was expanded, and materials were disseminated on a loan basis. Inservice was conducted for all project personnel in the form of meetings, workshops, and classes. Publicity efforts, through newspapers, newsletters, radio, and television, increased the public awareness of career education. Appendixes make up two-thirds of the report and contain evaluation instruments, publicity samples, sample programs, a 51-page bibliography and resource guide, and other project-related materials.
