Abstract | The National Institute on Drug Abuse presents this booklet as the first in a series intended to summarize the empirical research findings and major theoretical approaches relating to the issues of drug use and abuse. This volume summarizes the major research findings concerning the effects of nonmedical drug use on employment. These findings provide the reader with the purpose, methodology, findings and conclusions of each study reviewed, and clarify the issues of drug use as it occurs in various professions, companies, the labor force in general and among addicts. Four reports on programs designed to control employee drug abuse are also summarized. (Author/SJL) |
