Abstract | The manual presents 869 instructional objectives for trainable mentally retarded students. Objectives are grouped into three content areas: social competency (self care and personal development skills), basic skills competency (including sensory motor, communication and number skills), and occupational competency (vocational adjustment, domestic service, commercial service and construction). In addition to the behavioral description, the objectives include an evaluation checklist which allows assessment and monitoring of student performance on each objective. It is explained that these checklists help to diagnose specific performance difficulties and assist the teacher in developing individual instructional approaches. The document is accompanied by a foldout chart listing all the objectives in the three categories. (CL) |
