Abstract | Two elements were identified as being of paramount importance in the examination of manpower policy in Denmark: (1) the division of responsibilities for matters of direct concern to the labor market between different branches of government and the social partners--an important facet of the social framework of a country, and (2) the impact of economic development and the constraints it has imposed on labor market institutions and operations. A major concern of Danish manpower policy has been maintaining full employment while achieving equilibrium in the balance of payments and controlling inflationary pressures. Conclusions drawn by the Manpower and Social Affairs Committee of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development relate to the areas of: the context of manpower administration, training, the public employment service, and future development of manpower policy. The examiners' report covers in detail the economic context, institutions and machinery for the implementation of manpower policy, and the context of manpower administration. (SA) |
