AbstractCommercial television's global development into a multibillion dollar business is explored in this "Notebook." The first half consists of a transcript of a symposium on "Selling the World," with representatives of governments, universities, and the three major networks' foreign subsidiaries. The international activity of the networks, their strategies of foreign penetration, and the economic interests serviced by their expansion are examined. The second half includes a chronology of network expansion, data on number of television stations and sets worldwide, and lists of leaders in program syndication and leading advertising agencies.
