Abstract | Each segment of the information community included in the scope of the National Commission on Libraries and Information Science (NCLIS) has some ongoing international project or is directly affected by international agreements or projects. NCLIS must provide the oversight, guidance, and coordination that will ensure the joining together of their efforts for the national benefit, while at the same time refraining from taking away from any organization or group the activities, programs, and responsibilities that belong to that group. The role of NCLIS should be in planning, liaison, evaluation coordination, intelligence, informal contacts, funding, and national policy development. NCLIS can be a leader in the realization of free flowing information and the dynamic sharing of intellectual resources. (Author/PF) |
