Abstract | This paper deals with some of the characteristics of good open education as espoused by its proponents. It then discusses the three types of relational patterns which are exhibited by children in the classroom. According to the author, these three relational patterns demonstrate that the ability to handle an open classroom situation varies enormously from one child to another. Thus, approaches to enhance independent learning and creative expression must be varied. Finally, the article deals with the efficacy of open education vis a vis its ideals. (Author/HMV) |
