Abstract | The Student Accountability Model (SAM) was developed by a consortium of 12 members, to provide a system of procedures for identifying and describing California community college occupational students and for obtaining information about them after they leave college. The two components of the model are the Student Accounting Component (Classification of Occupational Courses, Identification of Occupational Student Majors, and Data for Voc-Ed For CCOE48) and the Student Followup Component (Classification of Previous Semester Students, Followup Procedures for Groups--selection of group(s), preparation of students, study design--Data for Voc-Ed Form CCOE45, and Data for Program Evaluation and Planning). Each of the tasks involved in the two components is discussed. (Appendixes present the following: a discussion of Sampling in Followup Studies, Sample Instruments for Followup Preparation (In-Class Questionnaire, EXIT Interview Form, and Followup Alert Letter), and a list of members of the Project Consortium.
