| Abstract | The published statements, reports, books, and other studies of the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education constitute a small library on almost every issue, type of institution, and specific problem of higher education. This book fulfills the definite need for a convenient single-volume guide to the Carnegie Commission's publications. The author summarizes more than 50 documents, ranging from a few pages to nearly a thousand. Although each document is condensed, sufficient detail is presented to enable the reader to make use of it without referring to the original. The author also provides a perceptive interpretation and criticism of each document, pointing out the implications for individuals and institutions, and gauging the potential impact on academic policy.
